What is Coil Slitting?
Coil slitting is a process involving equipment with rotary knives with which a full-width coil is cut into the customer engineered widths and required coil size and weight. With our expertise, we can use the incoming data we receive from the mills (i.e. chemistry, hardness, Tensile Yield Elongation), and put together a setup that will produce a precise width (capable of =/-.0025” in certain cases), as well as a clean edge with minimal burr.
We take our customer’s specific width and order a master coil from the mill. This allows us to minimize yield loss from edge trim and optimize the coil sizes to allow for longer run times on our customer’s equipment.
